Coming up in SHOOT's June/July Issue...

Special Report: The Altered State of Production & Post
SHOOT takes a look at coming out of the pandemic-caused shutdown and how advertising, film, TV, streaming production and post will adapt as industries grapple with recovering or returning to some sense of normality.  As part of this article, we're surveying leading industry organizations, associations, guilds & unions on their evolving guidelines on opening production and we'll include select responses.
We hope to shed light on and provide useful information regarding:
--How are marketers and advertisers adapting to this unknown world?
--How can we best navigate a return to some semblance of normality without compromising the safety and welfare of people?
--As the TV upfronts wind down, will production wind up happening to make those announced fall primetime schedules a reality?
--What will be the "new normal"?

The Road to Emmy, Part 5
SHOOT's Annual "Road to Emmy" 16-Part Weekly Series kicked off on May 15 and runs weekly through the Creative Arts Awards and the Primetime Emmy Awards.  Each installment garners insights from leading artisans involved in TV Shows, programs or films generating Emmy buzz.
In this installment we'll hear from...
--Production designer Curt Beech, whose credits include Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman, discusses his work on Hunters (Amazon Prime)
--Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, creators of Stranger Things (Netflix) for which they've each earned six Emmy nominations in recent years spanning the directing, writing and Best Drama Series categories.
--Minkie Spiro, who earned a DGA Award nomination earlier this year for Fosse/Verdon, reflects on The Plot Against America (HBO), for which she helmed the first three episodes.
--Cinematographer Christina Voros reflects on lensing Yellowstone (Paramount Network) and diversifying into directing select episodes of that series.
--Two-time Emmy winner Elisabeth Williams discusses production design on The Handmaid's Tale (Hulu).
--Ramy Youssef, a Golden Globe winner earlier this year for best actor in a comedy TV series on the strength of his performance in Ramy (Hulu), discusses his multiple roles on that series (director, writer, exec producer, creator) as well as select collaborators.
--More names to come

Chat Room Interview with Jon M.Chu
Director Jon M. Chu, whose feature credits include Crazy Rich Asians and the much anticipated adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda's In The Heights, discusses the Apple TV+ series Home Before Dark, for which he directed the first two episodes and serves as an executive producer.

The Long and Short of It: Streaming's Ripple Effect
From quick bites of programming on the recently unveiled Quibi platform--championed by Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman--to original and classic content spanning features, TV series and documentaries on the upcoming HBO Max, streaming has launched into the marketplace in a big way as of late with a formidable field of new competitors, which also includes Disney Plus, Apple TV Plus and NBC’s Peacock, looking to catch up with Netflix as well as Amazon Prime Video and Hulu.
SHOOT explores the streaming consciousness as well as the production/post considerations for Quibi’s unique brand of mobile phone fare, providing an overview of what’s out there and what it all means.

Profiles: Cinematographers
Leading cinematographers discuss their latest work, which could figure in this season's Emmy race, along with collaborators, approaches and choice of cameras for that content.  Among those we'll hear from are:
Martin Ahlgren shares insights into his lensing of The Plot Against America (HBO)
Michael Grady discusses his shooting of The Morning Show (Apple TV+)

Hot Locations Column Film commission, lensing and incentive developments impacting feature, TV, commercial, music video, short film and interactive production.
