Hannah Beachler reflects on Black Panther, for which she became the first African American to be nominated for a Best Production Design Oscar.
Editor Barry Alexander Brown, nominated for BlacKkKlansman, shares backstory on his longstanding collaborative relationship with Spike Lee.
Editor Hank Corwin earned his second career Oscar nomination, both for Adam McKay-directed films: The Big Short in 2016 and Vice this year.
John Ottman discusses editing Bohemian Rhapsody
Pawel Pawlikowski discusses Cold War, which earned him a Best Director Oscar nomination. Cold War is also up for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.

Robbie Ryan, BSC, ISC discusses shooting The Favourite for director Yorgos Lanthimos. The film earned the DP his first career Oscar, ASC Award and BAFTA Film Award nominations.
David Stockton, ASC received his sixth career ASC nomination, the latest for an episode of "Gotham".
Lukasz Zal, PSC shares insights into Cold War, which earned him his second career ASC Award and Oscar nominations.


Visual Effects: VES Awards
Profiles of several VFX supervisors whose work is prominent among this year's field of Visual Effects Society (VES) Award nominees.
Paul Lambert, visual effects supervisor at DNEG, discusses his VES and Oscar-nominated VFX supervising work on First Man.
Chris Lawrence, effects supervisor at Framestore, reflects on Christopher Robin, which earned him and his colleagues a VES nod for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature.

Michael Tyburski's feature filmmaking debut, The Sound of Silence--produced by Washington Square Films and Anonymous Content--premieres in Sundance's U.S. Dramatic competition. 
--Blinkink directors Becky Jones and Joe Pelling, aka Becky & Joe, premiere their "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared" pilot in Sundance's Indie Episodic showcase. 


Chat Room Interview: Leslie Dektor
Leslie Dektor, who earned 13 DGA Award nominations as commercial director of the year, an honor he won twice--discusses his filmmaking life after advertising, which includes assorted documentaries, the latest being Growing Up. Also in the offing is a narrative feature on revered photojournalist Dorothea Lange, exec produced by David Fincher.
