Selecting the best work entered in the New Directors Search, compiling the New Directors Showcase Reel & producing the New Directors Showcase Event is one of SHOOT's great pleasures
2020 was to mark the 16th year holding the Showcase Event at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) in NYC in May. When the pandemic hit, we extended the Search entry deadline from March to June and set a revised Event Date of 10/22. SHOOT held out hope, as did the DGA, a lead Sponsor for 16 years, that they would receive approval from the State to reopen to events. Since that did not happen, we aren't able to hold the Showcase Event this year. SHOOT and the DGA plan to get back on schedule for next year's 2021 Showcase Event and we'll incorporate something special into the program to celebrate this year's NDS Directors.
Without the Event itself, our special SHOOT New Directors Showcase website & SHOOT's Special Oct/Nov New Directors Showcase PDF Issue (with digital distribution) will be more important than ever before as they will be the two high-profile platforms announcing to the world who the SHOOT NDS Class of 2020 is – a fantastic group of directors and we can’t wait for everyone to meet them and see their work when the Issue is out on 10/19 and the NDS Site goes live on 10/20!
