Television: Now Playing (Streaming) At A "Theater" Very Near You
Streaming TV & first-run features have meshed together as never before due to the pandemic. A look at HBO Max’s schedule in January which includes The Little Things directed by John Lee Hancock and starring Denzel Washington, Rami Malek and Jared Leto--scheduled to premiere in theaters and on HBO Max the same day (1/29). This marks the beginning to a new year in which Warner Bros.’ simultaneous streaming TV/theater distribution model will take hold, on the heels of the Xmas weekend rollout of Wonder Woman 1984 in theaters and on HBO Max. In that vein, a look at other work from feature filmmakers that has received critical acclaim playing for a primarily streaming audience, including David Fincher’s Mank (Netflix), Sofia Coppola’s On The Rocks (Apple TV+) and Steve McQueen’s Small Axe (Amazon Prime). And in the offing is director Lee Daniels' The United States vs. Billie Holiday, for which Hulu acquired U.S. distribution rights.
Cinematographers & Cameras
Leading DPs provide insights into their work, camera choices, collaborative relationships with directors and other artisans, and much more. Scheduled to shed light on the art of cinematography are:
