SHOOT continues its 16-part “The Road To Emmy" series which takes a look at what programs and artisans are nominated for an Emmy Award. We connect with artisans spanning directors, producers, showrunners, cinematographers, editors, composers, sound designers, production designers and more. Among the nominees sharing insights in this installment are:
--Eric Kripke, creator/showrunner of The Boys (Amazon Prime), which earned five Emmy nominations this season, including for Outstanding Drama Series.
--Director Declan Lowney who received an Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series nomination for Ted Lasso (Apple TV+), one of the 20 nods earned by the show, including for Outstanding Comedy Series.
--Amy E. Duddleston, ACE who this year scored two Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing noms for the "Miss Lady Hawk Herself" and "Fathers" episodes of Mare of Easttown (HBO), which garnered a total of 16 nominations including for Outstanding Limited Series.
--Production designer Will Hughes-Jones reflects on Bridgerton (Netflix), his nomination being one of a dozen garnered by the show, including for Outstanding Drama Series.
--Director/cinematographer Steve James & cinematographer Jackson James discuss City So Real (National Geographic), the docuseries which received a pair of nods--in the Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series and Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program categories.
--Editor Heather Persons secured her first Emmy nomination for The Flight Attendant (HBO Max), which tallied a total of nine nominations, including for Outstanding Comedy Series.

--Alice Brooks reflects on lensing Lin-Manuel Miranda's In the Heights (Warner Bros.) for director Jon M. Chu
--Autumn Durald Arkapaw discusses the feature film approach she, director Kate Herron and Marvel brought to the Disney+ series Loki.
--Alan Jacobsen takes us on a high seas adventure in The Loneliest Whale: The Search For 52 (Bleecker Street), a documentary executive produced by Leondardo Decaprio and Adrian Grenier.

Writer-director Sian Heder, whose feature film CODA (which will be released theatrically, and make its streaming debut--on Apple TV+ in August) won the Dramatic Grand Jury Prize, Audience and Best Directing Awards this year at Sundance, is diversifying into the ad arena, connecting with Independent Media for representation. This awards season she also earned a Film Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best New Scripted Series on the strength of Little America for which she serves as an executive producer. Heder is also a three-time Writers Guild Award nominee for Orange Is the new Black, a show on which she was a co-producer.
