Location, Location, Location
Film Commissions will be celebrating the LMGI Awards in late August while continuing to expand their reach as the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) breaks new ground globally with plans to hold its Cineposium in Ireland for the very first time. SHOOT previews the 46th annual Cineposium slated for Sept. 26-28 in Limerick City.
As for the celebratory reference, film commission nominations were recently unveiled for the upcoming Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) Awards. SHOOT delves into these nominees, including the Montana Film Office which is in the running for Outstanding Film Commission based on its efforts on the Paramount+ television series 1923. We also hear from Jeannette Stanton, director of the Oklahoma Film Office, which is nominated for season two of Reservation Dogs (FX). The LMGI Awards are set for August 26 in Santa Monica. While times are challenging as film commissions grapple with labor strife and industry instability due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), they present opportunities as film commissions and production services look to business in commercialmaking and branded content. Plus SAG-AFTRA has an interim agreements program that allows independent productions with no direct ties to AMPTP to continue filming.
(Ideal advertising opportunity for Film Commissions & Production Services companies!
